Our Trademarks & Patents department is headed by Bamidele Adeleye who has been involved in intellectual property law and practice for over 20 years. Registration of Trademarks in Nigeria is regulated by the Trademarks Act Cap 436 Laws of Federation of Nigeria 1990.
Requirements for Registration of Trademarks
- AUTHORIZATION OF AGENT FORM which must be completed and simply signed by the applicant. Notarization of the power of Attorney is not needed.
- APPLICATION FORM Name, address, and nationality of the applicant.
- List of goods for which the application is required.
- FORM 3 Bromide prints of the mark.
- Advertisement of the mark in the Trademarks journal for possible opposition.
